Do I need a Fire Alarm?

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 came into effect in October 2006 and replaced over 70 pieces of fire safety law.

The Order applies to all non-domestic premises in England and Wales, including the common parts of blocks of flats or houses in multiple occupation (HMOs). The law applies to you if you are:

• Responsible for Business Premises
• an Employer (or self-employed) with business premises
• Responsible for a part of a dwelling where that part is solely used for business purposes
• a Charity or Voluntary Organisation
• a Contractor with a degree of control over any premises

Under the Order, the responsible person must carry out a fire safety risk assessment and implement and maintain a fire management plan. Further information on what you need to do when carrying out a risk assessment is available at

Once you have decided on your options then you need a competent company with which to discuss your requirements. We will design a Fire System to protect you, your staff and your property from damage by heat and smoke.

Fire Alarm Systems Maintenance:

If you already have a system installed, as they need to work first time, every time, they need maintenance.

The Scedule for the minimum maintenance required is set out in Section 6 of BS 5839-1:2002. Para 45.3 states .....The recommended period between successive inspection and servicing visits should not exceed six months.
